Drivers on the Glooscap Trail, along the shores of Cobequid Bay, will experience a smoother ride once a provincial road-paving project is completed in that area this summer. The Department of Transportation and Public Works has announced a tender for repaving on Trunk 2 from the Portapique River for nine kilometres to the Little Bass River. The tender will close on Friday, May 26. “Drivers along the Glooscap Trail enjoy a wide variety of scenery and attractions,” said Angus MacIsaac, Minister of Transportation and Public Works. “This upgrade will make sure the road to those attractions is smooth and strong.” The Department of Transportation and Public Works’ highwaysdivision manages more than 23,000 kilometres of roads in NovaScotia. It maintains 4,100 bridges and operates seven provincialferries. Staff provide services from offices in Bridgewater,Bedford, Truro and Sydney.
