BFPNG executive director Nick Daroa told the Post-Courier few programs have either been postponed or cancelled. “Basketball PNG has drawn up a 2020 Calendar of events, of which nearly a quarter of those programs have either been postponed or cancelled. “We will marry the remaining activities in parallel with the back to sports protocols and a revised plan will be derived according to the said phases as relayed by PNGSF (PNG Sports Foundation) and PNGOC (PNG Olympic Committee,” said Daroa. He said the BFPNG operations office with the guidance of the board (BFPNG Board) will be responsible for drawing up a Back to Sports Competition plan in adherence with the SoE Covid – 19 guidelines. Asked if all programs and competitions sanctioned under the federation are set to commence, Daroa said the federation will be coming out with a final decision. “Whilst re-introduction of Local competitions and Programs will be at the prerogative of each local Associations and Leagues, BFPNG will be monitoring these events, hence will be the bearing of our final outcomes when decisions are beckoned,” said Daroa. Daroa said FIBA / BFPNG sanctioned events will be guided by the Covid-19 Guidelines. “BFPNG has received similar Back to Sport Covid-19 Guidelines from FIBA and are in consultation with sporting authorities as to how and when to bounce off our competitions and programs without breaching laws that have been laid out.”last_img
