He will serve a two-year term starting on September 8.Ioan Goia has been appointed Director General at Romanian tram and bus operator Regia Autonoma de Transport Timisoara.Rob Mason has been appointed CEO of RailCorp in New South Wales, and Ross Bunyon has stepped down as Chairman. Previously Project Director for Asciano’s coal haulage business, Marcus McAuliffe has been appointed Group General Manager at QR National Coal.Vladimir Karpov has been named Acting Director General at rolling stock manufacturer Kolomensky Zavod, a subsidiary of Transmash Holding.Rob Verrion has been appointed CEO of Angel Trains’ UK business, while Haydn Abbott has taken the same position at Angel Trains ?International; both appointments follow the purchase of Angel Trains from the Royal Bank of Scotland by a consortium of investors (p577). Corporate Development Director John Vale has taken the opportunity to retire.Brown Ondego has been named Executive Chairman of Kenyan and Ugandan railways concessionaire Rift Valley Railways (p584). Other new appointments at RVR include Kevin Whiteway as Managing Director, David Kerr as Chief Operations Officer, Gary Camp as General Manager, Infrastructure, and Michael Field as Chief Finance Officer. Thomas Necker has stepped down from his position as Chief Operating Officer at Berlin public transport company BVG.Walt Bonneau Jr has been appointed to the newly-created post of Senior Vice-President & Group General Manager at Cubic Corp.Jeremy Hill has been named Vice-President & Chief Operating Officer at Union Switch & Signal.Tim Knapp has joined management consultancy CDL as Head of Urban Transport. Raymond Betler and Charles Kovac have both taken posts as Vice-President and Group Executive at Wabtec Corp. Andrae Nieuwoudt has been named Managing Director of Wabtec’s new joint ventures in South Africa, Wabtec South Africa and FIP Brakes South Africa (p578).Jerzy Sagan has been named Vice-President at Polish freight carrier CTL Logistics, while Artur Pielech and Mariusz Mik have joined the board.Tom Jacobi has been appointed Vice-President, Operating Systems & Practices, at Union Pacific, while Ken Hunt takes over his previous position of Regional Vice-President, Operations for the Western Region.Ian Brown has become Managing Director at Funkwerk Information Technologies York, succeeding Roland Albert who has moved to the company’s Malmö subsidiary.Frank Larkin has been named Executive Vice-President at American Motive Power.Greg Milford has joined Parsons Brinckerhoff’s UK rail business unit as Strategic Business Development Director.Jim Quinlan, chief architect at the Railway Procurement Agency in Dublin, is leaving to take up a similar post in Dubai, where he will be working on the Al Safooh light rail system. Dr Claudia Langowsky has been appointed CEO at German transport association VDV, replacing Prof Adolf Müller-Hellmann who has retired. James Bolger, who was Prime Minister of the government which privatised the New Zealand rail network in 1993, has been named Chairman of the renationalised rail operator KiwiRail. Peter Metcalf has been appointed Head of Rolling Stock at consultancy Scott Wilson Group. Dr Hansjörg Rodi has been named CEO & Chairman at Schenker Deutschland AG. Jerry Evans, a wheel-rail interface specialist, has joined consultancy Interfleet Technology.John Jacobsen has been appointed Vice-President & Chief Engineer at Kansas City Southern.Gary Touryan has been named Senior Vice-President, Regional Operations, Rail, at consultancy firm Halcrow.Brian Roche has been appointed chairman of the New Zealand Transport Agency, which came into being on August 1 following the abolition of Land Transport New Zealand and Transit New Zealand. Roche has held a number of government posts including Establishment Chair of the Auckland Regional Transport Authority. Garry Moore, Paul Fitzharris, Bryan Jackson, Grahame Hall, Alick Shaw, Mike Williams and Christine Caughey have also joined the NZTA board.Robert Niven has been named Head of Development & Planning at London’s Docklands Light Railway, where he will take overall responsibility for projects to be completed in time for the 2012 Olympic Games. He succeeds Richard de Cani, who is now ?Director of Major Projects at Transport for London. Tim Parker will no longer be taking over as Chairman of TfL from September as previously reported (RG 7.08 p458). London Mayor Boris Johnson has decided the role should be occupied by ?an elected official and will retain the post himself, although Parker will remain on the board as an advisor. In further developments at TfL, Paralympic gold medal winner Dame Tanni Grey-Thompson has been appointed to the board, along with fellow new members Bob Oddy, Steve Wright, Keith Williams, Charles Belcher and Daniel Moylan. Christopher Garnett, Tony West, Eva Lindholm, Mike Hodgkinson, Patrick O’Keeffe, Judith Hunt and Peter Anderson have all been reappointed to the board.last_img
