The SM East gym was filled on Wednesday with students and parents celebrating some remarkable accomplishments by Lancer athletes. Seven SM East seniors participated in the National Signing Day ceremony, formally announcing their intent to continue their athletic careers at the college level. The students were:Sarah AllegriAllegri will be attending Missouri State University on a swimming scholarship. While at SM East she made Kansas First Team All-State in 2013, 2014 and 2015. She currently holds the SM East record in the 200 freestyle relay, the 200 medley relay, the 400 freestyle relay and the 100 backstroke.Rebecca BalesBales, a mutli-sport athlete at SM East, will be attending Ottawa University to play softball. She is a three-year letter winner for the Lancers softball team and a one-year letter winner on the basketball team.Adalaide Kline Kline will be attending Oklahoma State University where she will be a member of the Cowboys soccer team. She is the recipient of SM East’s Jordan Mann and Art Newcomer Awards. In addition to her outstanding soccer career, she was a four-year member of the varsity cross country team.Paige ReedReed will be attending Kansas State University as a member of the rowing team. At SM East, she participated in the volleyball and track teams.Jack SantilliSantilli will attend Cleveland State University on a tennis scholarship. Santilli took second place in state singles his sophomore and junior years, and was part of a team with Jack Glazer that won the doubles state title his freshman year.Georgia WeigelWeigel will attend Kansas State University where she will be part of the school’s inaugural women’s soccer team. Weigel earned four varsity letters and was named First Team All-Sunflower and Second Team All-State her junior year.Maddie WilsonWilson will attend Emory University and will compete on their cross country and track teams. Wilson broke the SM East record in the girls 5K with a time of 19:13.SM East senior Rebecca Falker has committed to play tennis at Augustana University, as well, but was not able to participate in the ceremony Wednesday.
