first_imgFunction of Position:The IT Business Analyst works as part of the application systemsteam in Information Technology Services to design, test, installand support academic and administrative computer applicationsoftware systems. This person also trains staff and faculty in theuse of those systems. This is a full-time position, reporting tothe Assistant Vice President for Information TechnologyServices.Principal Duties andResponsibilities:Work with faculty and staff to evaluate business processes,anticipating requirements, uncovering areas of improvement, anddeveloping and implementing solutions. Perform requirementsanalysis working as a liaison between ITS and the subject matterexperts. Lead ongoing reviews of business processes and developingoptimization strategies. Conduct meetings and presentations toshare ideas and findings. Serve as project manager when necessaryto move solutions forward. (40%)Within administrative software systems, design, test, installand maintain configurations necessary to meet the applicationsoftware needs of the academic and administrative departments ofthe college. Participates in the quality assurance of purchasedsolutions to ensure features and functions have been enabled andoptimized. Participates in the selection of any requirementsdocumentation software solutions that the organization may opt touse. Analyzes and verifies requirements for completeness,consistency, comprehensibility, feasibility, and conformity tostandards. (20%)Analyze and resolve computer application problems as quicklyand accurately as possible minimizing any outage and any adverseimpact on college operations. Provide technical support for facultyand staff using application software to help make their computingenvironment as integrated, seamless, and easy-to-use as possibleand to help them develop self-sufficiency. (20%)Thoroughly document program logic, procedures, and businessrecovery plans so that the documentation is readily understood byothers working on the system. (10%)Train faculty and staff in the appropriate use of applicationand desktop software. (5%)Stay current on information technology through reading,attending professional development workshops, conferences, andother educational opportunities. (5%)Other duties as assigned.Supervision:As a member of the Applications team, the employee worksindependently toward general objectives set by the supervisor usinga wide range of latitude and procedures. Employee prioritizes ownwork and resolves all but the most unusual without consultationwith supervisor. Minimum Qualifications:Knowledge equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Scienceor a related field.
