Lightning Strikes LNTV Off-air

first_imgMonday’s heavy downpour was accompanied by lightning, which caused damage to some facilities of the Liberia Broadcasting System, resulting in the television station going off air, the management has confirmed.LBS management in a release yesterday said its broadcasting facilities suffered a major technical breakdown as a result of lightning that struck the station on Monday. The LBS management has meanwhile noted that its technicians have been able to restore the ELBC Radio service and some of its partner stations that were also hit in the aftermath of the lightning.However, the release said the Liberia National Television (LNTV) service, which was severely hit by the lightning, will be off air for an unspecified period of time.LBS management assured the public that its technicians are working tirelessly to restore its television service.The Liberia Broadcasting System (LBS) is a state-owned radio network in Liberia. Founded as the Eternal Love Broadcasting Corporation (ELBC) in 1960, the network was owned and operated by Rediffusion London until 1968, when management passed to theGovernment of Liberia. The network began television broadcasting as the Liberia Broadcasting Corporation in 1964.
